The Revolutionary Republic started when a dissatisfied group of Battlefield Vietnam players, most of them with the suffix 'Nuts' attached to their name (Tall Nuts, Serious Nuts, SlapNuts), left a clan called End of Tradition, or EoT, sometime in the summer of 2004.

The group of about dozen players wanted to start a clan that had very little command structure or rules. EoT had been a very strict and structured environment and that structure had never enhanced any of the BFV group's gaming experiences. With Tall as leader, Big Nuts (Slappy's older brother) as Second-in-Command, and Dead_Serious as Server Administrator, the Revolutionary Republic was founded. The name was chosen to represent that the clan was following a 'revolutionary' ideal: a serious lack of structure.
